Springer announces new publishing initiative in India
Spurred on by a growing demand for academic books in India, Springer, a leading global scientific publisher of books and journals is expanding operations in the country.
The publishing firm, which began India operations in 1998, has set up a new office in the capital and plans to increase content to include more top Indian authors and widen distribution networks - universities, colleges, academic societies and professionals - in the country.
“This new office can be said to be for us the last step in globalisation because we want to be not just an European company selling content but also about selling Indian content. We want to be a truly global company,” said Derk Haank, chief executive, Springer.
